


Eleonora Mignoli, who goes by Leo (they/them), is an Italian-born, Manchester-based queer and neurodivergent screenwriter. They work across mediums to write stories about legacy and what it means for characters who must either pass it down, carry it, or, in most cases, grow to understand and become free of it.
They are a member of the prestigious BAFTA Connect, a 2024 mentee of the Wonder Women Mentoring Programme, and recently won the 2025 Scribe Lounge Elevate competition with their YA pilot Night Hotel. They are represented in the US by Cameron Cubbison at Zero Gravity.
Leo’s romantic comedy Steal Your Heart, produced by Reel One Entertainment, is streaming worldwide. Leo has optioned Hannah Persaud’s novel Codes of Love and signed a shopping agreement with Studio Crook to adapt it for television. Their drama feature Legacy won BFI Early Development funding andis in development with Polari Creative.
On YouTube, Leo has ghostwritten YA confession-style animation episodes that have over 100 million views. In the US, they are developing a multi-platform YA sci-fi IP with Kinetic Energy Entertainment.
They are well-versed in international microdrama formats, having been headhunted to write short-form content for CooTek, a Shanghai-based mobile internet and AI app company, as well as for the romantic serial platform Loververse.
Their short film The Bargain was acquired by DUST, and Sonar and Circuit were screened at BIFA and BAFTA-qualifying festivals. Another short, Rory Romantic, was commissioned by and broadcast on BBC Two Wales.
Leo has been selected for prestigious talent schemes such as Series Mania Writers’ Campus, Future of Film Incubator, and Good Trouble Labs. Their screenplays regularly score in the top ranks of respected UK and international competitions, including BBC Open Call, Austin Film Festival, Sir Peter Ustinov, Nicholl Fellowship, and Shore Scripts.
In their free time, Leo can be found at the nearest bookstore’s coffeeshop, engaging in the time-honoured tradition of consuming vast quantities of Earl Grey Tea and cake. They also like to draw while listening to an audiobook.
